  • Last Tuesday Indonesia's parliament passed a law that banned sex outside marriage

  • The punishment for anyone found guilty is 1 year in prison.

  • The law is expected to be especially harmful for the LGBTQ+ community

  • The new criminal code will not go in effect for another 3 years

  • After the announcement, hotels and resorts across Indonesia saw a slew of cancellations.

• 🤖 ChatGPT crosses 1 millions users in just 5 days

  • the new AI is capable of understanding a natural language and responding to it in the same

  • In comparison Facebook took 10 months to reach 1 million users, Instagram 2.5 months

  • Founder Sam Altman announced that after the meteoric rise OpenAI (the company behind ChatGPT) will look to monetize soon

• 🏡 Airbnb launches "Airbnb Friendly Apartments" program to boost the number of short-term rentals on the platform

  • the program enables long-term renters to browse for multifamily buildings that allow Airbnb short-term rentals

  • it will also connect renters to experiences Airbnb hosts to help with getting started on Airbnb

  • Similar past attempts by Airbnb have not worked

• 🏔️ Founder of Nomad Bansko launches a new project - Coliving Semkovo

  • vision is to convert a 16,700 m2+ hotel building into 200 apartments and provide a unique community experience in a very remote setting in nature

  • When the owners are not living in their apartments, they will be able to rent their units

  • In just under a month, the project gained the interest of more than 125 people

  • The price of the apartments starts from only 15,000 EUR for a studio

• 🇭🇷 It's official: Croatia joins Schengen, Bulgaria and Romania denied membership

  • EU countries voted last week admit Croatia into the Schengen zone

  • However, Romania and Bulgaria were denied entry

  • Importantly for digital nomads, that means that time spent inside of Croatia will now count towards your 90 days in other EU contries

🧑‍💻 Baking bread is out, but remote work is here to stay!

While many COVID-related trends like bread baking and online yoga have experienced a steep decline, one trend that is growing is the desire for remote work.

While there has been a small decrease in the number of remote jobs this year (from 20% of all jobs to 15%) a LinkedIn study found those positions received over 50% of applications
